Con el tratamiento con trifaroteno, los recuentos absolutos medios de lesiones inflamatorias se redujeron en 19,0% y 24,2% (frente a 15,4% y 18,7% con vehículo [P<.001]) y los recuentos absolutos medios de lesiones no inflamatorias se redujeron en 25,0% y 30,1% (frente a 17,9% y 21,6% con vehículo [P<.001]). Además, el trifaroteno es farmacocinéticamente estable en los queratinocitos, pero se metaboliza rápidamente en los microsomas hepáticos, lo que predice un perfil de seguridad favorable; además, tiene propiedades comedolíticas, antiinflamatorias y antipigmentantes20.
